Get connectedTo use Ovolab Phlink, you need to connect your Phlink telephone adapter to your Mac's USB port, and to the phone line.
If you have a single wall jack, and a telephone is already connected to it, you will need a cable splitter (a Y-splitter). This allows you to keep using your telephone as well as Phlink on that single wall jack. Do not connect your telephone to the port labeled "AUX" on the Phlink telephone adapter.
If you wish to share a single line for voice and fax calls, letting Phlink switch between the two automatically, make sure that your fax modem is connected to the phone line as well (to a wall jack or to a cable splitter, but not to the port labeled "AUX" on the Phlink telephone adapter).
A mailbox for everyoneUsing the Phlink Voice Mailbox Setup wizard, you can create multiple voice mailboxes. Each voice mailbox forwards voicemail messages to a specific email address, stores them in a specific folder on your Mac, and has its own PIN code for retrieving messages over the phone.
If you create a single voice mailbox, Phlink will simply play that mailbox's greeting when it answers incoming calls.
If, on the other hand, you set up multiple voice mailboxes, Phlink will play the introductory greeting first. The purpose of the introductory greeting is to instruct callers to press a number, in order to enter a specific voice mailbox.
Once the caller has selected a voice mailbox, that mailbox's greeting will play.
To retrieve your own voicemail messages over the phone, simply call Phlink. Choose your own voice mailbox, then enter the corresponding PIN code. Phlink will not only play back your unread messages, but also let you enter the voicemail configuration menu, from which you can record new greetings, choose to use temporary greetings, change your PIN and more.
For more details, read the Phlink Voice Mailbox Setup wizard description.
Extend your PhlinkOnce you have Phlink up and running, you may want to expand its capabilities by adding readymade scripts, or by writing your own.
Choose "Show Phlink Items folder" from Phlink's Go menu. The folder that will appear is the folder where Phlink looks for greetings, ring tones, scripts and other items used when answering calls.
We suggest that you always make a copy of your Phlink Items folder before installing new scripts or making changes to existing ones, so that you can revert to the previous version at any time.
When installing new scripts, make sure you follow the provided instructions. Also try to avoid cases in which one script conflicts with another, otherwise Phlink may stop interacting with callers as intended.
